We all experience dry spots spiritually throughout our faith walk. And when we do, it feels especially difficult to reach our students, to keep on with our teaching, to press them to grow in their worldview. Here are some questions for self-examination that may help.

Questions for Self-Examination in a Spiritual Dry Spot

Is there sin to confess?

Is there inattention to God’s Word?

Is there infrequent gathering with other believers?

Is there a lack of studying God’s Word?

Is there scanty prayer time?

Is there inadequate preparation for the lessons?

Is my own worldview the issue?

Is it time to move on from teaching?

Maybe it’s about my behaviors, and getting those habits back in place, and trusting that when I do what God asks of me, I find my trust in him, my attitudes, grow in grace, and in love for him.

There is Hope

Just remember there is hope: Jesus wants us to be with him, to know him, to love him, and to be refreshed by the power of his Holy Spirit to carry on with the work he has given us to do. That includes teaching worldview to students who need a firm foundation in the word so that they are ready to face the world.

Now What?

Those are tough questions to ask, but the answers should help with what to do next. If you are ready to get back to work, I invite you to dig in to understanding your own and your students’ worldviews. Start with some other questions. Check out the pdf below to get you started.
